About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Development Studies, the Manager Studies provide leadership and direction for the identification, selection and definition phases of projects for the Minerals Americas region to deliver the approved business objectives by identifying and managing project risks, driving project value optimization, management of study deliverables and setting up the delivery phase for success. This will be the man functions for the role: 
• Facilitates activities and inputs with stakeholders to ensure high quality change management, making sure that key assumptions are competitive and realistic.
• Executes the identification, selection and definition phases study by:
1. Managing the identification, development and comparison of options to determine the preferred investment alternative, considering value creation investments and assessing material risks and issues.
2. Managing the progress of project disciplines and requirements to an appropriate level, including license to operate (regulatory approvals and permitting, community consultation).
3. Finalising the strategy and preparing the plan for project execution at a level of detail appropriate to the size and complexity of the project, incorporating the input from relevant functions and stakeholders, particularly delivery.
• Provides input to 5YR Plan objectives and budget, driving performance and implementation accordingly
• Establishes and drives a regular reporting process to allow any risks or deviations from the plan to be identified, provides guidance to the Head of on projects studies risk management and relevant mitigating actions.
• Manages the measurement and continuous improvement of performance, recommending any changes required to identify capital efficiency initiatives and productivity improvements.
• Ensure the project allocation process between the project pillars (Processing, Non-processingTailings, MiningMaterial Handling), is properly matched with the capabilities and competencies of each pillars area of expertise.
• Provide quality assurance of key business documents (InvestmentSupplemental Approval Requests, Statements of Requirements, Project Execution Strategies, and memorandums to Regional and Group level Investment Review Committees.
• Co-write IARs, SARs, and memos to Regional and Group level IRCs, and Board for medium (>US$50M) and large projects (>US$250M) in conjunction with the project managers, to ensure consistency, quality and that the purpose of the documents are effectively communicated.
• Represent Projects, along with pillar Directors, defining the expectations and challenging the business case of investments to be developed and delivered by Projects. 
About You

• Engineering degree.
• Experience leading project portfolios.
• Experience in Studies phase for mining projects.
• Experience leading teams and in mining projects.
• Availability to travel to site when required by the business.
• English and Spanish spoken and written.
